Abstract
Patients (14) with inoperable or metastatic carcinoma of the lung were entered in this study. All of them received 1 or more courses of multiple chemotherapy (cyclophosphamide, 5-fluorouracil, methotrexate and vincristine) with prior and concurrent heparin anticoagulation. No tumor regression was noted in any patient although 1 patient is alive and well at 2 yr. Five patients developed sudden increase in pleural effusion while on heparin therapy and in 4 of these patients the effusion was a significant factor in their death. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
