Abstract
Polyps in the colon can and often do progress to colon cancer. However, since the process usually takes several years, early treatment is highly successful. The challenge for the physician comes in convincing patients to undergo the screening test. The authors describe an effective and safe way to perform flexible sigmoidoscopy that not only ensures a thorough examination of the entire colon but also minimizes patient discomfort and the risk of complications. Keywords
