Abstract
A 34-yr-old woman with a 13-yr history of systemic lupus erythematosus had been taking azathioprine (Imuran) for 1 yr in an effort to control her cutaneous lesions and also as a steroid sparing agent. Acute pancreatitis developed, which could not be related to her lupus, prednisone administration, viral illness, or other causes. This unusual occurrence was apparently due to azathioprine therapy.
