Abstract
Life-table procedure was extended to the study of the course of cases of tuberculosis as death, retrogression or improvement. The results were summarized to show the status of 100 cases at the end of each year following diagnosis. From the example given of cases moderately advanced on diagnosis, 40.9% of the original 100 were dead, 25.1% retrogressed, 22.5% improved and 11.5% were unchanged at the end of 4 yrs. By using this method of analysis the difference in the course of the disease according to the extent of the lesion on diagnosis was apparent. The analysis of material according to this procedure can be extended to studies of other aspects of tuberculosis in various age, sex and color groups and to the studies of other diseases and conditions affecting health. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
