Abstract
TOXIC HAZARDS*Chrome Hazards†The three major chrome hazards in industry are exposures to chromic acid mists, dichromates and basic chromic sulfate. Chromic acid (chromium trioxide; chromic anhydride) has multiple uses, in chromium plating, and anodizing, as a catalyst and oxidizing agent, as a textile mordant, in process engraving, ceramic glazes, colored glass, metal cleaning, inks and paints and in the preparation of leather-tanning chemicals.1 Chromic acid itself is so well known for its harmful effects that workers are usually very careful not to come into direct contact with it, and therefore most hazards arise from chromic acid mists. . . .Keywords
