Radioactive Iodinated Human Serum Albumin in the Diagnosis of Intracranial Mass Lesions

Abstract
Of 49 brain tumors, 27 were correctly located. There were 39 hemispheral lesions with 25 correctly diagnosed for a somewhat higher percentage of correct localization than for the entire group; 64% for the hemispheral group compared with 55% in the entire group. Only 2 out of 10 posterior fossa and midline base were correctly located. The use of P32 for direct counting in the operating room was found to be over 95% effective. Although a comparable substance to be used in preoperative surveys has not yet been found, it is hoped that such a radioactive substance will be available in the future.
