Abstract
There are visible changes in the way a growing number of firms are doing business. Rather than vertically integrate their manufacturing capabilities, adding value to a product all the way from when it comes out of the ground to when it becomes a finished good, some firms are disintegrating their manufacturing operations. Sometimes they are even buying the product in toto, adding value only as bulk‐breakers and distributors.Keywords
