Abstract
A stratigraphical scheme for a dinoflagellate zonation of the Upper Maastrichtian and Danian of southern Scandinavia is proposed. Three Upper Maastrichtian and four Danian biozones are differentiated. Central sections of the Danish Embayment in northwestern Denmark differ profoundly from marginal sections in eastern Denmark and Scania where the Maastrichtian-Danian boundary strata are shown to be more condensed. The distribution patterns of the dinoflagellate assemblages have been statistically tested and the results presented herein clearly indicate that the great variability of these assemblages is not random. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
