Microanalyses of 14 Chlorohydrocarbons in Wastewater by Thin Layer and Gas Chromatography

Abstract
This analytical procedure provides for the rapid determination of 14 chlorohydrocarbons contained in a water grab sample, even though two pairs of compounds with identical or similar retention times are involved. The thin layer chromatographic procedure was used to resolve the co-emerging gas chromatographic pairs. Very good recoveries are obtained in the analyses of those chlorohydrocarbons which are epoxidized, hydroxylated, or hyperchlorinated. Low melting or liquid chlorohydrocarbons which are more volatile exhibit more than usual losses during the concentration step.
