Abstract
A peculiarity in larval feeding of the alfalfa weevil Hypera postica, was noted. The larvae devoured all alfalfa in an untreated field except for an area around some fallen oak tree tops. This suggested tannin as a possible repellent. Consequently, laboratory feeding tests were conducted using a series of tannin dilutions (1g/2.5ml, 1g/5ml, 1g/10ml, lg/40ml, lg/80ml) sprayed on alfalfa. The greater concentrations of tannin increased mortality when compared with weaker concentrations. However, all concentrations decreased feeding. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
