Helium Excitation Cross Sections near Threshold

Abstract
The cross section for excitation by incident electrons of the metastable level of He has been fitted by using a Breit-Wigner one-level formula. The fit is very good. The significance of this result and its bearing on the energy dependence of the cross section near threshold are discussed.
