First Observation of the Decay Ξc+Ξ0e+νe and an Estimate of the Ξc+ Ξc0 Lifetime Ratio

Abstract
Using the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring we have observed the decay modes Ξc+Ξ0e+νe and Ξc0Ξe+νe by the detection of a Ξ-positron pair of appropriate invariant mass. We find B(Ξc+Ξ0e+νe)σ(e+eΞc+X)=1.55±0.33±0.25 pb, B(Ξc0Ξe+νe)σ(e+eΞc0X)=0.63±0.12±0.10 pb, B(Ξc+Ξπ+π+)/B(Ξc+Ξ0e+νe)=0.44±0.110.06+0.11, and B(Ξc0Ξπ+)/B(Ξc0Ξe+νe)=0.32±0.100.03+0.05. Assuming the Ξc+ and Ξc0 are equally produced in e+e annihilation events at 10 GeV, the lifetime ratio of Ξc+/Ξc0 is measured to be 2.46±0.700.23+0.33.
