Abstract
Uncultivated specimens of 42 taxa of exotic trees and shrubs were found along a roadside transect extending from Wyong near Sydney to Ipswich near Brisbane. Of these, 31 taxa spanned two or more of ten defined regions. Distributions are related to both climatic and dispersal factors. Fruit trees (dispersed by vehicle passengers) were most widespread; some other taxa appear to be in process of spread. Fruit tree heights are also considered, as is the degree to which taxa are already naturalised. The importance of exotic woody plants is discussed, in particular on roadsides. Keywords
