Abstract
A tissue culture assay employing Eagle''s KB epidermoid carcinoma cells was described which measured streptovitacin A concentrations between 0.02 and 0.25 [mu]g/ml, with LD50 = 0.055 [mu]g/ml. Relative potencies of crystalline and crude preparations of streptovitacin A correlated well in the tissue culture and in vivo (Walker-256) bioassays. The standard error per LD50 determination with the tissue culture assay was 15%, and per relative potency determination it was 8%.Keywords
