OBSERVATIONS ON A PLEOMORPHIC MYCOBACTERIUM ISOLATED FROM MOUSE BRAINS .1. CULTURAL AND MORPHOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract
A pleomorphic, acid-fast mycobacterium was isolated from a suspension of mouse brains. It has a low virulence for laboratory animals but does not have the char-acteristics of a saprophyte. This organism does not produce pigments and grows only slightly on plain agar after prolonged incubation. This new strain does not differ significantly from the avian group.
