Abstract
Differential diagnosis of liver disease is the prime objective of laparoscopy; not only does it provide a better view than laparotomy of the surface of both lobes but, by making possible guided rather than blind biopsy, it overcomes many of the diagnostic problems intrinsic to focal disease. When laparoscopy is combined with scanning, a more complete picture is obtained than is available from either technique alone. Keywords
