How psychology fails the teacher

Abstract
The following article appeared first in the alternative press and it is printed here as an example of the sort of criticism made by teachers of the training they have received. The writer of the article, who is at present teaching at Holloway Boys’ Comprehensive School, acknowledges that her criticism is very particular, based on her experience of a specific PGCE course given at a college of education, and she no longer feels entirely satisfied with its form. However, after one year's teaching, she still feels that her criticisms stand. While the Editor accepts that no generalizations can be made from the article, he feels that it raises sufficiently wide issues to justify its publication.
