Abstract
Degradation of material is directly related to energy conversion. Information about the state of energy during partial discharges in voids is thus necessary to evaluate degradation of solid insulation. In this paper, measurable quantities are related to partial discharges energies. For spherical voids in polyethylene, these measurable quantities are compared with calculated ones. In conclusion, energy conversion in voids is discussed to estimate the relevance of different measurable quantities.
