Abstract
Segregation of lipids and proteins of the plasma membrane into microdomains called lipid rafts is known to be important for many biological processes including signal transduction and pathogen invasion. In his Perspective, [van Meer][1] explains new findings ([ Zacharias et al .][2]) that reveal how lipid moieties attached to proteins instruct the proteins to move into different types of lipid rafts.
