Abstract
Alpha-particle spectra from the reaction C12(O16, α)Mg24 have been examined at 0°, 3°, and 15° with a magnetic spectrometer at a number of bombarding energies between 22 Mev and 24 Mev. The parities of all the levels in Mg24 up to and including the 9.517-Mev level are established as (−)J with the following exceptions: 5.224 Mev, 7.746 Mev, 7.808 Mev,8.864 Mev, and 9.456 Mev, which are probably (−)J+1. Further implications of these measurements on spin and parity assignments are discussed. Keywords
