Abstract
VENTRICULAR aneurysms most commonly occur as a result of myocardial infarction after coronary-artery occlusion.1 Less common causes include congenital defects, trauma and infection. Recently, Abrahams and his associates2 reviewed 12 cases of subvalvular annular aneurysms of the left ventricle of unknown etiology in which single or multiple sacs arose directly adjacent to the fibrous ring of the mitral or aortic valve. Additional cases have been reported by others,3 , 4 suggesting that the lesion is not extremely rare. With 1 exception3 previously reported cases have been in Negroes. In the present case a subvalvular annular aneurysm of the left ventricle was discovered . . .Keywords
