Abstract
The kinetics of complex reversible reactions are treated by a method that clarifies the relationship between the rate laws and the thermodynamic condition for equilibrium. It is shown that this relationship takes on simple forms only under very special conditions. Some of the equations obtained appear to be useful for the treatment of certain types of complex rate processes. The theory of steady-state diffusion in the presence of an external field is treated briefly. Keywords
