ACUTE MENTAL STATUS CHANGES CAUSED BY PROPRANOLOL

Abstract
A 74 yr old woman with mild dementia became disoriented and developed paranoid delusions when treated with low-dose propranolol. There was no evidence of cardiovascular instability, and the symptoms resolved within 1 wk. Rechallenge with propranolol led to a recurrence of mental status changes.
