Ophthalmologic Management of Diabetic Retinopathy

Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy ranks as a leading cause of blindness in the United States. Cataracts and glaucoma are largely curable or at least controllable with modern medical and surgical technics. Ability to control diabetic retinopathy and to prevent secondary visual impairment is far less certain. In addition to the totally blind patients with this condition, there are many more who lack sufficient vision to pursue their vocations or avocations.
