Abstract
An outline is given of the phenomenon of impurity conduction and of the metalinsulator transition in impurity bands. The transition appears to be of Anderson type, with no discontinuous change in the gap or in the radius of localized states. The effect of the Hubbard U is discussed and it is suggested that it may have less effect in determining the concentration for non-metallic behaviour than previously thought. The Hall effect and thermopower are discussed, and a comparison is made with some properties of tungsten bronzesKeywords
