Abstract
The dissociation of ethane at 600° has been studied in the presence of eight added gases at pressures in the region where the first-order rate coefficient is pressure dependent. Efficiencies of energy transfer relative to ethane, on a collision per collision basis, have been determined. Values of this quantity appear to vary linearly with the boiling point of the added gas and with the force of collision between molecules of the added gas and the reactant. The results obtained have been compared with those from similar investigations on other systems. Keywords
