Punching shear strength of concrete slabs subjected to in-plane biaxial tension

Abstract
Synopsis It has been found in three tests that in-plane biaxial tensile strains up to 0·0017 cause no reduction in the strength in punching shear of a reinforced concrete slab 90 mm thick. The test results are compared with the predictions of the recent Bridge Code (BS 5400) and of plastic theory.
