Esthesioneuroblastoma: An Enigma in Diagnosis, a Dilemma in Treatment

Abstract
Esthesioneuroblastoma is a difficult problem for both the otolaryngologist and pathologist. Eight cases are presented, two in detail, which demonstrate the problems inherent in the management of these patients. A high index of suspicion and electron microscopic examination of the tumor is an aid to diagnosis. Treatment consists of combined radiation-surgery. The "fiveyear cure" is meaningless for this disease.
