Abstract
Injn. of estradiol in to young bitches produces endometrial proliferation but no endometritis. Progesterone caused growth of the endometrial glands, estrus, and an endometrial inflammatory infiltrate. When progesterone was stopped, glandular hyperplasia was reduced but inflammation and bacteria persisted. Bacteria and infiltration with inflammatory cells also occurred in uterine cornua isolated from the vagina. Keywords
