Abstract
This paper shows how the “shell model” can be written as a pseudo-ionic model without loss of generality. The dynamical matrix is simply deduced from some experimental vibrational modes and frequencies at zero wave vector for BaTiO3 and KNbO3. Dispersion curves and elastic constants are obtained and compared with experimental data. For BaTiO3, the temperature dependence of soft mode is assumed to be due to the short range interaction between Ti and Oz, and results are discussed. Keywords
