Abstract
Studies of homeless women reveal high lifetime rates of childhood physical and sexual abuse and of assault by intimate male partners. The extent of family violence in the lives of homeless women is examined, as are parallels between the long-term effects of childhood abuse and characteristics identified in homeless women. Implications for research and service provision are discussed. Keywords
