Abstract
Presentation of CaseA fifty-nine-year-old man was admitted to the hospital complaining of repeated hematemesis during the preceding twenty-four hours.About five years before admission the patient began to have two-day to three-day periods of "indigestion" characterized by sharp epigastric pain, bloating and sour eructations coming on two or three hours after a meal, relieved by soda but not by food. The day before admission he noted the sudden onset of warmth, sweating and weakness, and he vomited about a liter of dark blood and clots without any pain or nausea. He was given a hypodermic injection by a physician . . .
