Abstract
In this paper, we evaluate the weighted and unweighted signal-to-noise ratio of a camera-head signal which is transmitted by a fiber-optic system using pulse-frequency modulation (PFM). We take into account the camera noise characteristic determined by the camera preamplifier (FET-feedback type), the thermal and shot noise of the avalanche photodiode, and the thermal noise of the following preamplifier (FET-feedback type). All noise sources are superpositioned and then weighted according to the frequency-dependent noise sensitivity of the human eye. Keywords
