Abstract
The Technology Intervention and Support Program (TISP) was developed at two of Kent State University's seven regional campuses to provide a minimum of 50 academically disadvantaged and underprepared students enrolled in associate degree technical programs with individualized intervention/support services to improve skills in mathematics and English. The composite profiles of the typical student participant at each of the two campuses indicated differences in gender, hours of enrollment, and major. Race, age group, and academic rank, however, were characteristics that typical participants at both campuses had in common. Outcome measurements designed for the program included pre‐ and postevaluations of grade point averages, assessment scores, and course grades. Student and administrative evaluation of the program was positive and provided recommendations for refinement as well. Also identified are seven implications for practice concerning how to better serve the special needs of associate degree students. Keywords
