Abstract
This paper synthesizes information on the effects of environmental restraints and increased energy costs on prices and quantities in the food and fiber sector. It looks at how direct impacts on one commodity lead to subsequent impacts on other commodities, resulting in a synergistic effect. The data measuring these effects are analyzed with the assistance of POLYSIM which utilizes elasticities to estimate deviations from a baseline scenario of crop and livestock variables at the farm production level. Keywords
