Abstract
Experimental cerebral ischemia is compared to human stroke in rat, gerbil, cat and subhuman primate animal models. Species differences, anesthetic effects and progressive atherosclerosis are considered to be major areas presenting comparative problems. Neurological deficits, regional cerebral blood flow, neuronal function, cerebral edema, ischemic biochemistry and recovery from stroke are described in animal models.This publication has 20 references indexed in Scilit:
