Relative strength (ΔS=1)/[(ΔS=0)+(ΔS=1)] of isovector spin excitations in the high-lying resonance region ofC12

Abstract
The relative strength (ΔS=1)/[(ΔS=0)+(ΔS=1)] of isovector spin excitations, Psf, in the high-lying resonance region of C12 was investigated with the (7Li,7Be) reaction at EL=26 MeV/nucleon and θL=0° by separately measuring the (7Li,7 Beg.s.) and (7Li,7 Be0.43 MeV) reaction channels with the γ7 coincidence technique. The relative strength Psf was derived up to an excitation energy of 18 MeV in B12 and found to have a constant value of 0.4–0.5 for the continuum irrespective of excitation energy and 0.5 for the isovector dipole resonance centered at Ex=7.6 MeV.
