Abstract
In pericardial effusion, when the aspirated fluid shows a high content of cholesterol crystals, pericardiectomy is probably the procedure of choice. Such a case is reported. Since his operation in 1951, at age 46, this patient has enjoyed excellent health. Fourteen cases of idiopathic cholesterol pericarditis have been reported in the world literature. Two were apparently cured by pericardiectomy. Keywords
