Abstract
The literature abounds with reports of cases of chronic nephrosis; observations on the clinical manifestations of the disease, its course, its frequent termination by peritonitis and its pathology are not uncommon. We have not, however, been able to find a report of a case that has lasted so many years as the one herein discussed. According to Munk,1the disease may last months or years. Clausen2reported a case in a child, aged 13, who had had the disease since early childhood and was still living in 1924, and Lowenthal3reported a fatal case that lasted for nearly four years. The duration of other fatal cases has, in general, not been so long as this. In Davison and Salinger's4series, the longest fatal case lasted thirty-six months; one of Kaufmann and Mason's5patients lived thirty-one months, and one of Volhard and Fahr's6lived fourteen months.
