Abstract
The performance of a bearer link is usually assessed by bit error rate (BER) tests or measurement of the error free seconds (EFS). These require exclusive access to the link. An alternative technique is presented that measures performance by passive observation of the frames passing over a packet link. This may be used to estimate the performance of the link. Keywords
