Abstract
Quench properties of the 3 mφ×5 m (1.5 Tesla) CDF superconducting solenoid with a stored magnetic energy of 30×106 J were studied by computer simulations using the one-dimensional approximation. The quench-back effect induced with magnetic coupling between the coil and the support cylinder is included in the calculations. Maximum voltages and temperatures are substantially reduced with the quench-back compared with those calculated in the previous analysis in which the quench-back effect was not included. Keywords
