Abstract
Anomalous pump-depletion reversal in stimulated Raman scattering has been observed and is interpreted as the development of a soliton induced by a random phase shift in the injected Stokes beam. The experimental findings are presented and compared with the analytical solutions to the undamped stimulated Raman scattering equations as well as with a numerical study of the damped equations. Keywords
