Multisphere Measurements at Several Neutron Facilities

Abstract
A system of Bonner spheres equipped with a proportional 3He counter was calibrated in order to assess dosimetric quantities in various neutron-gamma fields. Its response matrix was determined by using calibrations in standard monoenergetic beams and thermal neutrons together with results of neutron transport calculations. Applications of the system at a neutron generator for fusion research, a p meson therapy facility, and a medical betatron are presented. Unfolded neutron spectra and values of derived dosimetric quantities, in particular the neutron dose equivalent and the neutron fluence-to-dose equivalent conversion factor are discussed.
