Abstract
The effectiveness of a plastic bottle vacuum drainage system ('Steritex vacu-drain') was evaluated in 50 randomly selected patients undergoing major surgery. The incidence of post-operative wound infection was 6%. The drainage system was found to be effective and acceptable to both patients and personnel involved in its management. Keywords
