Abstract
It is shown that the introduction of special absorbing boundary conditions (SABC) in the method of lines (MOLs) for applications in integrated optics makes it possible to reduce the discretized area. The numerical effort decreases substantially. This effect is demonstrated in the case of a slab waveguide. Keywords
