Abstract
EXPOSURE to x-rays has for some time been regarded as a possible cause of leukemia. This belief is based in part on results obtained by experimental exposure of animals to x-rays1 2 3 4 and in part on several reports of cases of leukemia occurring in workers exposed to radiation.5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 Definite proof of such an etiologic relation has not been established, however, and some authors have expressed doubt concerning it. Thus, Evans and Roberts8 stated in 1928, after a review of the literature to that date, "Although the possibility of causal association cannot positively be denied, the evidence is not conclusive."
