Abstract
In most high-voltage switchyards, basic grounding systems are formed by a grid of horizontally buried conductors. A series of scale model tests in an electrolytic tank have been performed and charts are developed with the use of which percentage mesh potential in a high-voltage grounding grid, formed of square meshes, can be determined. The ranges of parameters are those usually encountered in practice. The results are compared with those obtained with the use of the approximate formula suggested by the AIEE Committee. The experimental results are quite close to those obtained with the use of the approximate formula. Keywords
