Abstract
We suggest using a wave-collapse mechanism for the compression of optical pulses. This idea is illustrated by the example of the physical model that is described by the Ginzburg-Landau equation for a subcritical bifurcation. We find, for a large class of initial conditions in this model, the exact sufficient criterion of the collapse. Keywords
