Abstract
A variational, finite-difference method for computing the normalized propagation constants and the normalized field profiles of channel waveguides with arbitrary index profiles as well as aspect ratios is presented. Mode dispersion curves and the field profiles of the fundamental mode of channel waveguides having profiles of practical interest are included. Keywords
