Abstract
Ss were administered the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule and Thurstone Adaptation of the Gottschaldt Embedded Figures Test to evaluate the relationship between personality factors and field independence. Field independence is associated with the need to be analytical in regard to the behavior and motives of one''s self and others, and with a relative absence of passive-dependent needs. Of the 5 needs hypothesized to be relevant, only 2 gave significant correlations with field independence: intraception and succorance. Keywords
